A great friend of 40 years, DJ is a physicist and a truly interesting character (and formerly an unwilling subject).
Shot in the Hollywood style lighting made famous by George Hurrell, we used three incandescent 205w globes (hence the slow shutter speed), two from above/front & one behind a cutter onto the back wall.
The light spilling onto his the right side of his face from the rear light was a happy accident that I could see in camera & I'm glad I went with it, rather than trying to block it out.
