An Urban Wildland Interface
Bay Lands Preserve in Palo Alto is the largest tract of undisturbed land along the San Francisco Bay. Here, one can observe every imaginable sea bird there is, including egrets, white pelicans, loons, coots, avocets, ducks, and terns in their nesting environment. During my final two years in the SF Bay Area, I lived less than a mile away. It became my favorite spot for evening strolls and of course, photos.
