40 Acres and a Mule
I imagine whoever farmed this abandoned homestead in Auburn did indeed once farm it with a mule. At some point, the farmer prospered enough to replace the mule with the tractor that now lies rusting in the weeds. I find it interesting to contemplate the joy the farmer must have felt when first acquiring his shiny new tractor, and realizing the work it would save. Yet here it is, many years later a broken relic of the past, just like his old home further up the hill.
