Winter in the West

When Kenzie the pup and I headed out for the Spenceville Wildlife Area last Monday morning, my main objective was oak trees. The Blue Oaks that grow in this portion of the lower foothills are particularly beautiful with their twisted shapes and forms. To me, they are at their most beautiful during the winter months when their contorted trunks and limbs are visible to the eye.

Here, the oaks, rocks, and a wooden fence line join together to create a scene that even the most talented landscape design gardener would have trouble replicating.
