Alaura in a Magical Place 2

I was location scouting a few weeks ago when I noticed a set of railroad tracks I had never seen before. I parked my car to investigate.

The railroad tracks led me to an old wooden bridge that had long since been neglected and forgotten. Up the road from the bridge and just to the left I found this wonderful scene.

I filed the location away in my mind with the intent on using it for a special shoot. Alaura proved to be the perfect fit for the scene.

As shooting day approached, the sky was overcast and threatening. However, the rain held off all day so we started shooting as scheduled. Unfortunately, the thunder came not long after we started shooting. As I packed up my gear, the torrential rain fell right as I put the last light stand in my trunk. We were lucky to get a few shots before getting drenched.

Note: I had intended on using a very wide aperture and an ND filter to capture a narrow DOF. However, with the threat of rain immanent, I decided to forgo the complexity and extra time involved with shooting with a variable ND filter. Instead, I shot with narrower apertures and then used Photoshop CC's Lens Blur filter to approximate the shot I was after.
