Lately, I've been spending most of my web-time on Flickr. I changed my settings in Firefox, because I didn't like the white background - especially in the evening. It's difficult to see photos (especially dark ones), when they are surrounded by a bright white background.
To get to these settings in Firefox, go to Tools --> Options --> Fonts & Colors. Besides changing the colors, I set my font sizes higher because I use 1600 x 1200 screen resolution. It's nice for viewing pics, but not for reading! :)
The down-side to this is that ALL of your pages will display this way. Any font colors or other nuances on some webpages may not be apparent when using these settings.
Also, if a page has a white or bright picture as a background, you may have trouble reading it due to the white font.
