Sparkles
Sometimes nature gifts you a show of fireworks on your first visit.
This beautiful mountain lake scene is so easily accessible and has become photographed by so many people. The low level water reflecting the mountains and featuring a little island of trees paints such a beautiful nature scene. It's just too easy.
The part that doesn't come easy is getting the amazing fiery cloud conditions. I was traveling with Donald and he had visited Sparks Lake maybe 3 times before me and every time he did it was all clear or no light.
However on his fourth visit to the lake, I would be accompanying him and initially the skies were looking very grey and texture less. Donald made the comment about how he can never get a good sky at Sparks Lake.
As the evening progressed the light started to peak through and glow yellow. At this moment I still did not expect the sky to light up, and I thought the early glow was good enough. And for most landscapes I would be a happy camper.
Well within the next 20 minutes as the sun dropped lower more and more clouds started to light up and the color started to explode and light up the sky. It was an amazing show and I felt so lucky to photograph this popular place with such amazing conditions.
Donald ended the shoot saying, "I'm done with Sparks Lake."
