I love shooting milky way photos because I hardly ever get the chance to see the milky way or even photograph it due to the intense city lights. This is also my first time capture the green air glow in a night sky photo, and I just love the color and uniqueness it gives. Crater Lake is well known for being a dark sky area and on my visit to Crater Lake National Park, the plan for the main photograph was to capture the milky way. I was more excited to capture the milky way than a sunrise or sunset. In fact the 2 nights I spent at Crater Lake, I didn't even bother photographing a sunset or sunrise. This summer has been filled with clear blue skies. Capturing this image was also a nuisance, the first night another photographer had set up his tripod right in front of the tree and stayed in the same position from 7pm till 11:30pm (moonrise). I did not get the shot I had wanted. So the following night I had decided to set up early to make sure I can get the wider shot I wanted. So we got out early and set up by 6:30pm and wait till 11:30 to take my shot. Now I am very happy with the results of this photograph. This image is composed of 11 vertical images panning horizontally. 18mm on an APS-C sensor at 6400iso, I love pushing the limits of my camera.
