Purple Quahog "Pearl"

April 27, 2020

When you open a little-neck (one of our native, Cape Cod hard shell clams or "quahog"), you never know how much purple you'll find.

The special ones get a place on our windowsill along with other beach related knickknacks. At some point a little amber colored, surf-worn pebble was plopped into this one, resembling an oyster's pearl.

I liked these three colors together - the jade green, the deep purple, the light amber and the milky white for my window sill submission this week to Macro Mondays.

Quahogs create real pearls. They are very rare, and occur in various shades of white and purple. The dark purple ones highly prized!

(a "MacroMondays" submission, theme "Windowsill" HMM!)
