The Circle

December 31, 2018

A circle in life and in nature - The delicate round skeletal remains of an honesty plant seed pod.

Through time and weather, this "money plant" and its flat semi transparent seed pods have dried and dissipated. Next Spring the successful seeds will take root, grow tall, and produce multiple bunches of lush fuchsia flowers. When the flowers go by, flat green seed pods grow to the size of about a quarter (3 cm or so). In late summer, the seed pods ripen and dry as the plant withers. The pods turn into delicate and brittle silvery paper-like disks, which eventually disintegrate, releasing the seeds to the ground below. After the wind and weather take their toll, a thin circle skeleton is all that remains.

A natural circle, in form and existence.
