Sphinx

A pair of heavy clay "feet," revealed by erosion, at the base of this cliff, reminds me of the Great Sphinx of Giza in Egypt. Here though, the Cape Cod version is missing its head!

 

All along the seashore, these types of features are occasionally revealed. These grey chunks are are ancient clay deposits, exposed as softer sand and gravel are removed by erosion.
