Rust on a Clam Basket

The "mid-basket" coil on this clam basket has started to rust in several places.
When these baskets are new, they are a beautiful shiny galvanized steel. ALL of them, over time, no matter how much they are rinsed after use, rust little by little until they have completely "repainted" themselves in a beautifully decayed orange-brown crusty coat.
