"Evil" Tendrils

Finally a warm(ish) day, and we can get outside. The kids have built a stick and branch fort in the woods behind our house. To get into the fort, you must step up and over a large and decayed, toppled-down pine trunk. This trunk, due to the repetitive entries and exits, along with curious prying hands,has been stripped of all its loose thick bark.
Revealed between the wood and where the bark was, is this eerie web of animal-like vines (or veins it might seem), wet with recently melted frost.
The rotting wood is almost white, and the veins are a reddish brown, giving it an otherworldly and gruesome look.
Because I am so enthralled by "Stranger Things," I can't help but wonder if the evil, Mind Flayer-infected vines of Hawkins, Indiana have made their way to little old Brewster, Massachusetts!
