Ginkgo Leaves

Ginkgo leaves, back-lit on a crisp late spring / early summer afternoon. The ginkgo tree, (Ginkgo biloba) who's ancestors first showed up around 250 million years ago is a living fossil. It is believed to have derived from ferns before flowering trees - so really a giant fern/tree hybrid!
