There are so many people out there hurt by the drug war, on so many levels, but there are far more people out there who bought into the government's lies and drug war; and they treated people like shit for their drug use; they ostracized people for their drug use - and now they have to admit that not only were they wrong, but that there was no moral rationalization for their behavior, and that the truth was always out there but they chose to believe the government over their family and friends; they chose the government over love and compassion.
