The image is distorted by the inherent problem with a CCD or CMOS in motion. As the speed of motion exceed the speed of line scanning on the CCD, a distorted picture is captured.
This happened quite a lot to the cheapo cameras in my research of RC Plane video days. And that's why I used an fx9 and later an ixus for the jobbie.
