Fun on the Bus (PCIe)
Fun on the Bus (PCIe)
The fun in question is the motherboard comes with
3x PCIe 16x slots
3c PCIe 1x Slots
I have my Graphics card in the first and fastest PCIe x16 slot
I had my sound card in a PCIe x1 slot and the the PCIe x4 SCSI card went into the bottom x16 slot, it worked fine.
But my sound card disappeared! I found that using a second x16 slot disables ALL of the x1 slots.
I enabled onboard sound which isn't a terrible Realtek chipset and removed my sound card. Plus points: a littlle less power consumed probably and more space around the graphics card for air flow! Apparently the M2 slots effect at least the bottom two x16 slots bandwidth too.
I guess peripheral bandwidth is maxing out the Bus width at its designed clock speed
