9V green electric, interior view

With roof and one side wall removed, the interior of this little green electric loco reveals not only Minifig-friendly cabs, but also a detailed engine compartment filled with switch boards, main and secondary transformers, oil cooler and all sorts of bits and greebles. This section beeing 7w instead of 6w helps to make enough space available, but it's mainly the 9V system which enables it: with PF or pUP, the battery box would have occupied most of the space, not mentioning the rather bulky wires and — in case of PF — the need to accommodate the IR receiver.

Talking about lights: I used the original 9V setup consisting of 1x2 light bricks (BL 6035, one of them visible next to the oil cooler), light prisms in trans yellow and red (BL 2919) for head and tail lights, and green prism holders (BL 2928).

Now, while being perfectly 9V authentic, one must admit that the brightness of this combo cannot compete anymore with what we are used nowadays with LEDs. I guess it's time for a little mod here, probably by replacing the old incandescent lights inside the light bricks with white LEDs with integrated resistors.

Thanks for reading, and play well!
