Prussian 1914 Electric Demonstrator Trains (2/4)
Here's a model of an electric control car of the Prussian state railroad. Only two of these cars were built for demonstration and testing purposes in conjunction with the EB-class electric slugs. Their Road numbers were elS5026 and elS5027, later renumbered to ES88-11 and -12. The leading two-axle trucks of these cars proved much superior for bidirectional operation compared to the then-standard wheel arrangement of three fixed axles.
For more details on the concept behind the 1914 Prussian demonstrator trains, see here.
While the two-axle trucks of the prototypes were unpowered, my model obviously is - it was simply the only place in the whole train where I could sneak in a train motor (9v in this case, but there's plenty of room for PF battery box and receiver, too).
Head and tail lights are fully functional using PF LEDs modified for directional lighting.
