Fall Creek Waterfall

Santa Cruz Ca has quite a few waterfalls to see. This one is in the Fall Creek area of Felton. I hiked in on a foggy coast day to avoid the cold and get a good hike in. I was greeted by light crowds and cool temperatures all the way to the barrel making area.

I used a tripod and a polarizer to slow down the action and keep things still. Once I had my position picked out (standing in the creek), I used the timer to keep the image sharp. I used my new trekking poles to get most of the way in and was very impressed with the level of stability I had. Then I stepped on a slippery unstable rock and SPLASH, I was standing in the creek. I discovered it was not that bad and it cooled my feet from the climb. I usually avoid this at the ocean because your shoes never are the same after and smell like the ocean.

The creek was flowing enough to provide me with several options but many were in and out of the sun which made proper exposure impossible unless I did an HDR or other multi exposure compilation. So I stuck with the ones that were all the way in the shade. A little blue but I have control of the image temp range in RAW format.
