getting better with time [remix]

Technically, I suppose this is the equivalent of a Tweet (or whatever you call a Facebook post?). But, whatever, here goes:

 

It's been a crazy few weeks for me recently, photography-wise. My little photojournalism project is in full swing. A new camera is on the way here. Prints are selling (and I'm not advertising them! lol). The Smithsonian thing is chugging along (by the way, I appreciate everyone who took the time to vote for the Readers' Choice part of the contest; in addition to that award, judges will select both category winners and an overall winner sometime in the summer), which has led to contact from a number of photography based publications about various things, and some strange, previously unknown co-workers stopping by my office to tell me they saw my stuff. That's pretty cool.

 

So today, I came home to a message from the Detroit Free Press about one of my photos being printed in this Sundays paper, as well as being shown in a film presentation and panel discussion for "Detroit Revealed" at the Detroit Institute of Arts (along with my man .insomniac and a few of our other local peeps). I can't speak for the rest of the folks selected, but it's all kind of unbelievable for me, and I'm grateful for everyone who has offered kind words, critique, advice, or simply a high five as I've tried to make a measure of progress at photography. I still don't know all the details yet about everything coming up at the DIA, but so far, it's all good, and I owe much of it to this community. Thank you all.
