East Cobb Kroger//Parkaire Landing - Marietta, Georgia 30068
4880 Lower Roswell Rd, Marietta, GA // This Kroger was originally built in 1974 in an enclosed mall called Parkaire Mall. It was a Superstore that was connected to the mall, the mall also had an ice skating rink in the center. I grew up a few miles from here. The mall; much like many smaller enclosed malls in Memphis, was obsolete by the late1980's. The mall was demolished in 1986, and the Superstore was leveled. A new strip shopping center was built; Parkaire Landing. The Kroger was rebuilt from ground up as a Greenhouse store. It was a later Greenhouse store with the "trimmed up" front. I remember when the entire site was a mound of dirt in the fall of 1986. Well; fast forward to 2013. This area is one of the most affluent north Atlanta suburbs. The Kroger was always kept up to date. Now it's one of the nicest Kroger's that I've ever seen. Just since I moved to Memphis 3 years ago; Kroger had totally remodeled the inside to the 2012 decor; and the outside is fancier than any Kroger I've seen. Amazing how location can determine so much about how a store is kept up. I took these pictures today, Friday the 13th, 9/13/2013.
