"A Cup of.."

Coffee? A Cup of Tea? A Cup of You? A Cup of Me? Naw, too cliche (although in the right hands....brilliant! Genius!) Mine just ain't the right hands.

A Cup of....Spring. Yeah, that's what I need. A Cup of Spring! It will bring you Joy, this Cup of Spring...this Joy Spring. (Energy, Life, Rebirth!)

I've been asking flickr friends around the country to go outside and gather me up a jar of springtime. You go outside with a Mason jar and you run around and swoop and swoosh the open jar through the air and catch some spring, just like you would fireflies in the summer. Then you screw the lid on tight.

Or, I'd have taken a ziplock baggy of green. A flower, a blade of grass, a bit o' weed. (No, not that weed. Well, uh, um, then again.) No baggies of life came in the mail.

Couldn't wait. So I found my own spring. Or rather, Mother Nature presented it and I saw it and snatched me up a bit of it.

The Coho salmon came in two days ago. They started running the shoreline. Guys caught some. It was the first sign of spring this spring in the spring that wasn't. No leaves, no trees, no crocuses, no blades of nothing green; it was some fish...

So, A Cup of..... springtime to me? 20 ounces of Coho lures in a 16-ounce measuring cup. One measure of spring.

Hallelujah. My Cup of....Spring, runneth over.

(Conceptually, all I envisioned was a coffee cup full of fishing lures. That looked horrible.)
