Looking at this I couldn't help noticing the cover it certainly doesn't look like the actor who played the role of an indentured teacher stuck in the bush. Looks very much like Jack Thompson.
But it was the other headline that attracted my attention, "Victoria's Fires: Why weren't we warned?". The warnings are there if you know what to look for. The evidence is on the ground, if you look. The amount of fuel load on the ground is high, there hasn't been a fire for many years and it was a total fire ban with extreme weather. Maybe the article is referring to the lack of lack of warnings on the day? Well by then it was too late.
I used to work in the Eltham shire when I was at Uni. The *green* image was taken seriously. The running joke was you'd get complaints if you cut the road sides too short. There is a problem in this particular area and it scares me just as much as the film. Take a look for yourself at a some of the fallen timber, dead trees and lack of clearing of dead wood in Eltham. Most of the problem starts with the wrong mindset.
