Tube Rothko

It's a little known fact that the artist Mark Rothko was asked to paint some murals for London Underground.

He agreed to the commission and used some of the paint he had left over from The Seagram Murals.

Unfortunately most of the works were destroyed before the full genius of his work would come to be appreciated.

This mural at Shepherd's Bush Market station (eastbound platform) is one of the few remaining.

Go see it before some idiot paints over it.
