Nebraskans Light the Way: Pope's Address to Congress
Nebraskans gathered in Omaha (Aksarben Cinema) and Lincoln (Westminster Presbyterian Church) on Sept. 24 to watch Pope Francis's address to Congress, followed by group discussions on climate change led by local leaders of the faith, science and environmental communities. Everyone in attendance was provided with concrete steps they could take locally to #LightTheWay and #ActOnClimate.
In Omaha, attendees took photos with cut-outs of Pope Francis, Randy "Stand with Randy" Thompson, and a huge Eiffel Tower to call out the historic UN climate talks coming up in Paris in November-December.
Sponsors included Green Omaha Coalition, Nebraska Interfaith Power & Light, Bold Nebraska, Citizens Climate Lobby, Nebraska Sierra Club, Nebraska Wildlife Federation, Protectors of the Ogallala, Nebraskans for Solar, and Nebraska 350.
