bob the bolder

A replica of the hat worn as an alternative to the shako by sharpshooters and scouts of the 95th Regiment of Foot (Rifles), at e.g. Waterloo in 1815. According to Wikipedia: "The unit was ... armed with the first ... rifle accepted by the British Army, in place of smooth-bore muskets...."
This waggonway man at Beamish museum sometimes wears either a tricorn hat or a slouch (bush) hat, both also suitably from the Georgian period. And he always has a pipe.
