Boggerwood Carving
Flying towards peace (3)
The fact that the CND/peace symbols are in a figure for infinity can suggest a number of things – and it is your interpretation, I am not going to spell it out.
Putting the CND/peace symbol in an infinity symbol is not original as I got it from the web, however it seemed an intriguing combination. The bird symbolises both speed and lightness so that also qualifies the other image.
As a peace and nonviolence activist I decided to do more carving on such a theme...this is one example. However as a peace activist you might humorously say it is not so much a matter of flying towards peace as flying by the seat of your pants towards peace....
Co Mayo bog pine. The infinity/peace symbols and bird were ‘spot oiled’, it was all finished with water based varnish.
Incidentally, some conservative US evangelicals have claimed the CND symbol – now used both for nuclear disarmament and as a worldwide universal peace symbol – is a ‘broken cross’ and thus ‘anti-Christian’. This is absolute rubbish. It is based on the ‘N’ and ‘D’ semaphore symbols for nuclear disarmament, see e.g. www.logodesignlove.com/cnd-symbol
This is a close up of the infinity and peace symbols.
