Suretime on the 73
For the first time (I've noticed), Suretime, Surrey CC's real time bus information system, was working on the 73 yesterday.
Countryliner's vehicles were never fitted with Suretime equipment (except the route 479 buses). Perhaps SCC didn't trust them! But the Abellio fleet does seem to be - even though it's only the Pegasus Darts that have the interior passenger displays - and so the 73 is now showing on the Suretime displays.
However, the system is so bad that most buses (of all operators) never seem to show up on it. The regular 73 vehicle, 8047, never does (perhaps it is not fitted with the equipment).
But with 8095 (KV03 ZFY) on the route, it was all working, and I have to say it was working well!
Strictly speaking, it's not true to say the 73 has never featured on Suretime, as the Arriva route 73 evening journeys starting from September 2009 (1932, 2032, 2132 and 2232 from Woking) were on the system. In fact, they still are, and regularly show up on the displays, despite the fact they were re-numbered to 28 over two years ago in August 2010 and withdrawn completely in 2011!!
8064 was on the 81 yesterday too, vice 8042.
