The old & the new
Following the scaling back of Abellio Surrey services from December 2016, there were further changes from September 2017. Abellio Surrey have lost all of their remaining work in the new tender round for full-length contracts, and are therefore shutting Byfleet depot.
The 441 (Englefield Green - Egham - Staines - Stanwell -
Heathrow T5 - Heathrow Central Bus Station), which is commercially operated, is continuing however, but moved to an Abellio London depot with changes: from 2nd September 2017, it will be withdrawn between Staines and Heathrow, and diverted between Egham and Staines via The Causeway, rather than Pooley Green (so it can be run with two buses).
In the last week of the 441 going to Heathrow, Abellio Surrey 8025 (BU05 HEJ) is seen at Staines bus station, alongside White Bus SN16 OGU.
The White Bus Enviro was on a route learning run here, with the company entering the Staines scene from 2nd September through taking on the 446, 438 and 566/567 (all of which Abellio Surrey have lost the contract for).
Also seen route learning today was a London United Scania OmniCity, with LEDs, at Ashford (presumably learning the 400), and two Wessex-I-mean-Hallmark Volvo B7RLEs. Seen separately, both were out learning the 555.
Staines bus station, Staines, Surrey.
