Whistling Swans_1508

Saw these in the Trent River at Glen Ross today. Another sign of spring. They are strictly transients heading north to their breeding grounds in the high arctic along both sides of the Northwest Passage in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. Note: these are also called "Tundra Swans" by some ornithologists.
