CLRV Rounds the Connaught Laboratories_0612

The University of Toronto Connaught Laboratories sit smack in the middle of Spadina Avenue. So southbound streetcars such as this circle around the west side of the building while northbound streetcars such as the one I am taking this photo from circle the east side of the building. Two Nobel Prizes in medicine were awarded for the development of insulin as a treatment for diabetes for the work which was done here. The Connaught Laboratories also developed the technique for the industrial production of the Salk Polio vaccine enabling the mass inoculations that have almost eradicated polio in the world.
