Escaping Cobra

My friend Keith and I had been trying to coordinate a trip to the local park to look for snakes for a while, but the terrible weather had made it difficult. Finally the rain had stopped and we headed there, mildly optimistic, to walk my dog and see what we could spot. Straight off the bat we found a tiny king rat snake (Elaphe carinata), too fast to shoot, and then later a dhaman rat snake, slipping out of a ditch. Finally we turned up a cobra, again heading the other way at speed.
