"Hey! It's a start." - Hooded Oriole building a nest

After gathering the fibrous strands from the fan palm, the Oriole starts by creating an anchor point (behind the left wing).

 

This was taken on the first day that I saw the nesting activity. It was likely the first or second day of construction.
