Saw Mill River Parkway, Hastings, NY - Post Irene

After not getting access to my original idea for a shot and struggling with other ideas, Irene stepped in to disrupt life over the weekend. The bridge I took this from is close to my house and I saw the river had taken over the parkway completely during the day (I have some fun shots of a kid tubing down the road and a family on a canoe as well.)

I was inspired by the John Moran shot of the eyes on the pond and wanted to see if I could get reflections from the signs to do the same thing. I was a little nervous with a speedlight clamped onto the railing with a Justin clamp over such a drop.

This was taken just past sunset - the water was gone the next morning!

Strobist: Canon 7D, 50mm@f13 .6s exposure ISO 400. 580EX2 at full power with diffuser on camera for fill on trees left and right and some reflection on center. 430EX2 optically triggered at full power clamped on railing several feet at right zoomed to 105mm aimed down roadway at street signs.
