Moments earlier an Alaska Airlines 737 had departed Rwy 14. In fact, it was clear of the runway and well on its way when I turned my attention to this EVA Air Cargo 747.
I watched as the 747's crew began making what looked like the beginning of an series of S-Turns...but why?
It got bizzar really quickly...never stabilized on the approach, the crew wisely elected to execute a go around. They seemed spooked by the experience on their second attempt - they came it a bit hot and slightly unsteady but they did land.
All this within 2 miles of the threshold.
