Yellow-billed Magpie
Happy New Year 2023 friends. In the beginning years of my photography when I started following work of best bird’s photographers in the world, one of them was legendry Brian Small (www.briansmallphoto.com/bio.html). In April 2014 when I planned to visit southern California, I contacted him for locations in the area. He was about to leave for his extremely popular Texas Songbird Migration Workshop with Alan Murphy. To my surprise I received two long emails from him one late in the night and other in the morning describing several locations, despite his busy schedule. Like many others, who like to have photo with their favorite celebrity, I wanted with him. That occasion came few years later when he visited New Jersey. By the way Alan Murphy is in my one of the celebrity lists to have photo with him. Last week of 2022 December I visited again southern California for 8 days and you guessed it, I contacted again for the help with locations. I cannot thank enough Brain Small for his help. Every evening he took report of the day and suggested strategy for the next day. Even when I had some set back in the field during day, he suggested solutions for that. Although weather was not in my favor except few sessions, I was able to photograph 49 species, out of them 36 species were new, or I got better photo than before. Here is Yellow-billed Magpie, a new species for me, I photographed at his favorite location.
