Astral Sea, Ginza Six, Tokyo ()

Ginza Six is a luxury shopping complex located in the Ginza area of Tokyo. The name reflects the address, Ginza 6-chome, as well as the "six-star" shopping experience. G6 is built on the location of Ginza's first department store, Matsuzakaya (opened in 1924).

Inaugurated in 2017, G6 is the largest retail space in Ginza. Designed by architect Yoshio Taniguchi (born in 1937, best known for his redesign of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City [2004]).

G6 has an art program run by the Mori Art Museum. This display from November 2019, is the work of Finnish artist Klaus Haapaniemi, “Astral Sea” with “lightning whales flying high over the heads of customers, traveling through a fantastical world that is beyond the realms of time and space.” en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ginza_Six
