Merrick Butte on a Stormy Spring Sunset
A single-exposure, no-filter shot of Merrick Butte at Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park during a stormy sunset this spring.
This was yet another lesson in patience, as I very nearly left the park well before sunset. It was freezing cold, rainy, dark, and miserable. (Probably hard to believe if you've only been there in the summer!) But I forced myself to stay in the off chance that something good could happen, and right before the sun set the clouds broke on the horizon and illuminated the monuments in a fierce red glow with the dark stormy clouds as a backdrop. It really was that red!
