Traditions

View on black here to get a feel of watching it all out of a window - View On Black

A group of young girls watch as another group of married women perform the rituals of a Hindu tradition called "Karwa Chauth" in India which is maintained by married women wishing for long lives for their husbands.

The fact that too many people are cramped in too little a space leads to the women coming together in front of the house of one of them and onto the street and performing these rituals.

The women fast the entire day after eating only a meal in the wee hours of the morning of the day and then wait for the moon to emerge in the skies and the rituals are considered complete only after they have viewed the moon.

The girls watch as the rituals go on... perhaps wondering how they would be doing so some day as these traditions are handed over from one generation to the next as they have been since ages.

PoV - Taken from top (more like an isometric angle), you can see the clothesline on the right edge of the shot with clothes of myriad colors and those ubiquitous transmission lines that criss cross over almost every house in Delhi belonging to the local telephone company or the cable TV operators.
