Fangaia

Nella fangaia, alimentata da numerose piccole fumarole e da acqua termale, ribolle alla temperatura di 140° fango naturale, che in passato era utilizzato per la cura dei reumatismi. Trova qui il suo habitat un raro microrganismo termofilo, il Sulfolobus solfataricus.

The fangaia is fed by innumerable small fumaroles and spa water, and the natural mud, which boils at a temperature of 140° C, was considered an excellent remedy for rheumatism. A rare heat-resistant microrganism, the Sulfulobus Solfataricus, has its habitat here.
