FIXED!
It showed up on my doorstep this morning. After four years of sitting on the shelf, I sent it in to Camera Clinic (aka Horizon-Electronics) to be repaired. Looking forward to running some film through it in the coming months.
For the uninitiated, the EOS 5 and it s North American A2/A2e variants were originally marketed in November 1992 and were in production until February 2000. They were still selling strong two years after the EOS 3 was introduced in 1998. Now they can be found between $80-$150 at places like www.keh.com.
Camera Clinic is a Canon authorized repair center.
