Woolfiesta

Notes: Woolfiesta was a promotional campaign by the Australian Wool Bureau, later the Wool Board, which sponsored communities to organise wool themed activities and competitions.

The Pet Show was held at Katoomba Falls reserve on Saturday 13th April.

"Staged at Katoomba Falls Reserve by the Katoomba Soccer Club, this was mainly organised to give the great crowd of campers at the caravan park some entertainment. The popular president of the Katoomba Soccer Club, Mr. Tom Bromhead, was a tower of strength in the organising and success of our pet show that will be earmarked as a must for our tabulated line up of annual events. The most popular event was the added attraction, pony rides, which proved immensely popular with local and visiting children and was the brain child of Jenny & Aileen Skeen, ably assisted by Carmel Beresford."

"Among the pets entered were: rabbits, a parrot, a bee, a grasshopper, a crayfish, a duck, a cageful of kittens & pups (mixed) was the most interesting exhibit...individual exhibits of cats & dogs were excellent, and a family of grown border collies & their pups showed to great admiration…the best dog in the show was a magnificent great Dane... all cash prizes for the pet show [were] donated by Furlongs Butchery of Katoomba, they also provided free Puss & Boots pet food for all entrants.
