Banner Clubtail Dragonfly (male) DSC_2524-Edit

I considered Piedmont Clubtail (Gomphus parvidens) but decided on Banner Clubtail (Gomphus apomyius) because of the thicker dark lateral thoracic stripe. Ref. Beaton p.196 and p.192.

 

This is a fairly small dragonfly - I’d say larger than an Eastern Amberwing but not by very much.

 

Nikon D500, Nikon 200-500mm. 1/500 sec at f/7.1, ISO 1100, 500mm.
