Dusty Road to (the road to) Nowhere, Kansas

Original title: Dusty Road to Nowhere, Kansas

Taken near Oakley, Kansas on a gravel road leading to Monument Rocks, a 70 ft high chalk rock formation that stands isolated on the Kansas plains. The land around Oakley, Kansas is very flat with very few trees. So after spending 3 weeks there, I was excited when I finally found this shot up on a tiny hill.

Update on the name: I went ahead and googled "Road to Nowhere Kansas" only to find out that "The Road to Nowhere" is the nickname for the I-83 (just beyond the dusty horizon) connecting Canada to Mexico through a vast empty countryside and rural town after rural town no one has likely ever heard of before the name comes up on the sign for the next pitstop. So this photo has aptly been renamed from "Dusty Road to Nowhere" to "Dusty Road to (the Road to) Nowhere". www.roadtripusa.com/routes/roadtonowhere/roadtonowhere.html
