Hyena at dusk

Of all the species, hyenas were probably the most curious. I have many photos of them investigating the camera and even returned once to a camera to find it knocked partially over with teeth marks on the brass padlock.

 

** I use camera traps as part of my dissertation research. My goal is to measure relative predator densities in different parts of my study sites. I then use these densities to contextualize the behavior of Thomson's gazelles, my study species. Although I am mostly on the lookout for lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and jackals, I tend to get a lot of interesting photos of other species along the way. **
