In summer I do outdoor portraits. This is how I usually do it. With one or two flashes. Look at the shadows below the chin. I place the subject in the shadow - and I make sure the background is sun lit. These are portraits with no, one or two flash units. Today the sunlight was quite hazy. No hard shadows. So a flash is not really needed. Anyway - I get nice catch lights in the eyes when I use flash light for portraits :-) Unfortunately my plastic mannequin does not have shiny eyes yet. (I did buy nice shiny eyes for her, but they have not been mounted yet :-) )
