Family : Euphorbiaceae

A critically endangered small tree from littoral rainforest in the Lennox Head area on the NSW North Coast with the distibution limited to a a narrow strip, just a frew hundred metres wide by 1.2km long. This species hangs onto existence with only 55 plants known in the wild, only 10 of which are mature and of those only one is confirmed as female.

Those Fontainea oraria plants that remain "face a number of threatening processes, including further habitat destruction and fragmentation, competition with exotic woody weeds, earthworks and drainage changes associated with storm water management and erosion control, cattle grazing, increased exposure to ocean wind sheer and associated dieback, inbreeding, wildfires, and illegal collection of seed for propagation (NSW DEC 2005)."
