PayPal card replaces the football

The football is used to generate a one-time passcode for logging onto PayPal. Then you can use their security service to generate a one-time credit card number, which is useful for Internet transactions.

The problem is, the football has a battery which is needed to run a clock synchronized with PayPal. I recently heard of people running into trouble when this device's battery dies.

I called PayPal requesting the card, which doesn't have a battery, but uses a sequential number to sync with PayPal. The concept is the same. Here you press the white button, and it generates a uniques passcode, just like the football, but no battery to wear out.
