California Patch (Chlosyne californica)

This butterfly is found in Southwest deserts in California and Arizona. Similar to Banded Patch, it is usually much less common. Note the red spots along the margin of both forewing and hindwing, this contrasts to the smaller white spots along the margin of the Banded Patch.
